Tom Sheppard

Chief Information Officer

Tom Sheppard is BBB’s chief information officer (CIO), reporting to CEO, Duncan Gillis.

Tom’s area of responsibility includes ownership of all global information technologies and business systems, along with corporate governance over business units and shared services organizations. Tom joined BBB in 2020 and quickly created an IT strategy and roadmap that was initiated in 2021 as part of a multi-year IT investment. This included building out a world class team of in-house experts in multiple disciplines, relieving dependance on outside services, while delivering Oracle ERP solutions to all business units along with other innovative and automated solutions to drive the business forward and earn customer preference.

Tom has over 35 years’ experience in information technology, building systems and teams to allow global companies from $1B to $3B to thrive in competitive markets, by delivering innovative technology solutions to satisfy internal business operations, customers, and partners of these businesses. He has over 15 years of CIO and other senior level leadership experience primarily at global manufacturing companies, with over 8 of those years as CIO of automotive aftermarket companies.

Prior to joining BBB, Tom was the CIO of Brake Parts Inc., an automotive aftermarket manufacturing company specializing in a complete line of braking parts, with sustainable manufacturing operations.

He led the organization through multiple Oracle ERP implementations, domestic and international, to benefit the business and to prepare for the private equity turn.

Prior to that, Tom was a VP of IT Consulting for TILT, LLC, providing M&A technology leadership to clients, PSAV and Zebra, to prepare them for integrated operations with newly acquired businesses. The primary focus of these engagements was the planning and execution of migrations to Oracle ERP.

Tom has also worked for Panduit Corp., a global electronics manufacturer, in various leadership positions leading up to IT Director. While in that position, he first introduced Oracle ERP to the organization, building out an IT organization that implemented ERP and other innovative, customer and partner solutions, globally.

Tom graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in information systems and technology and continues as an agile learner and teacher of technology and business solutions.

Tom is married to his college sweetheart, they have two grown children, and live in Fairhope, Alabama.
