Our internship program engages future leaders in challenging and business critical assignments through strategic and process-driven work. Upcoming college juniors and seniors experience an 8 to 12+ week paid program in various areas of the business including:

Your role will vary depending on your functional assignment, but you can expect your responsibilities to include:

 

  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of the business and customer needs
  • Participating in specific projects aligned to high priority strategic initiatives
  • Learning about future opportunities through exposure to senior leaders and coordinated networking events
  • Presenting key findings and recommendations on execution to the Senior Leadership Team

Data Project: Business Intelligence Reporting

Background

Accurate data is the backbone of quality decision-making. The quicker decision makers can receive accurate data, the sooner they can execute on critical business decisions with confidence. Our candidate will gain experience working with data as it moves from the transaction level to the data warehouse level and finally to the presentation layer seen by our product, sales and finance teams. Specifically, our candidate will work with sales, warranty and fill rate data and transform it into executable information.

 

Purpose

The Data Project purpose is to provide our product, sales, and finance teams with near real-time (one-day latency) sales, warranty, and fill rate data in a manner that is familiar to them, user-friendly, and able to drill down on relevant attributes.

 

Objectives

  • Provide a user-friendly and intuitive data presentation layer through which the product, sales, and finance teams can directly retrieve sales, warranty and fill rate information
  • Meet user requirements as presented by the product, sales, and finance teams
  • Reduce Power BI data latency to one day (from up to one month)
  • Increase Power BI engagement

 

Deliverables

  • New Power BI Period Comparison and Budget vs Actual reports (from OBIEE) that incorporate the STAR schema, drill down ability and granular dimensions
  • New Power BI exchange, warranty and fill rate detail reports (from older Power BI) that incorporate the STAR schema, drill down ability and granular dimensions
  • Presentation of improvements to BBB Senior Leadership Team

 

Required Skills

  • Database Skills: SQL, database relationships
  • Microsoft Excel: basic formulas, VLOOKUPs; Pivot Tables and Power Pivot is a plus
  • Problem Solving: ability to drill down on problems and create quality solutions
  • Analytical Skillset: ability to analyze large data sets and make logical decisions
  • Communication: ability to work with various teams requiring different solutions
  • Time Management: ability to manage time and complete projects within a defined period
  • Willingness to Learn: ability to bring a healthy desire to learn and improve professional skills
SIOP Project: Life-Cycle Forecast Improvement

Background

A common issue with Supply Chain Planning is forecasting parts during the intro and growth life-cycle phase. When no historical data exists, manual intervention is required to supply accurate forecasts and maintain a healthy supply chain. Manual intervention consists of working with Product and Category Management to gather critical alternate data points. These data points include: Vehicles in Operation (VIO), Make, Model, Year, Part Family, Failure Rate, etc. Our candidate will need to incorporate these data points into a logical process that will provide a proactive forecast covering upcoming rapid sales growth.

 

Purpose

This project is designed to increase and sustain fill-rate for parts in the intro and growth life-cycles, thereby increasing gross revenue as well as reducing fill rate penalties for these parts. The desired outcome is to establish a structured process to proactively forecast parts in the intro or growth life cycle. This will ensure the supply chain is primed and give us the ability to achieve high levels of fill rate. This process will be cross-functional for all product lines.

 

Objectives

  • Increase fill-rate for parts in the intro or growth life-cycle phase
  • Decrease fill-rate penalties for parts in the intro or growth life-cycle phase

 

Deliverables

  • Universal database for alternate data points across all part numbers and product lines
  • Creation of processes which link alternate data points to logic that will help produce proactive forecasts
  • Presentation of key findings and recommendations to BBB Senior Leadership Team

 

Required Skills

  • Microsoft Excel: (above average skillset required) knowledge and ability to utilize VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, basic formulas, etc.
  • Problem Solving: ability to understand issues and create logical solutions
  • Analytical Skillset: ability to analyze large data sets and make logical decisions
  • Communication: ability to successfully navigate multiple working groups
  • Time Management: ability to self-manage time and complete the project within a short window
  • Problem Solving: ability to understand issues and create logical solutions
  • Willingness to Learn: ability to bring a healthy desire to learn and improve professional skills
